The term “Anglo-Indian” originally referred to British colonials residing in India. Their stay in the country resulted in the emergence of a race born to British fathers and Indian mothers called Anglo-Indians. Anglo-Indians, influenced by the Portuguese, British, Dutch and French, incorporated many herbs and spices that grew around them and developed their own cuisine. Soups are very popular during summer when people suffer from a loss of appetite. One of the most well-known soups from the community is the Mulligatawny.
