Squash blossoms - in all of their electric-orange and yellow glory - often grace photo spreads of food magazines. And not unlike a beauty magazine centerfold, these alluring edible flowers are fleeting and often unattainable. "We do see them at the farmers market in the summer and, occasionally, they are on plants in the spring," said Debbie Pleu, a local grower who sells at Cherry Street Market and has specialized in edible flowers. "I have seen them on transplant plants in the pot and they had squash blossoms on them. I think, at one time, there might have been a vendor or two, but I have not seen them in the last few years."
